Basic Program Rome
DAY 1: Arrival in Rome. After departing from customs, transfer via private coach to hotel. Enjoy welcome dinner with fellow travellers at hotel. (D): ROME
DAY 2: This morning, enjoy a half-day Vatican Rome tour. Transfer to the Vatican to visit the Vatican Museum with Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica. During the tour of the Vatican Museum, you will see an incredible collection of art accumulated by the popes, and the Sistine Chapel, featuring Michelangelo's masterworks. We visit the Basilica of St. Peter where we will see one of Michelangelo's great works, the statue of the Blessed Mother holding her crucified son. We know it as the Pieta. Next, you will have mass at St. Peter’s. Afternoon is at your leisure. (B, D): ROME
DAY 3: Following morning mass, enjoy a half-day historic Rome tour. See the major monuments of historic Rome, including the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps. Next, transfer to visit the Colosseum and Roman Forum. The Colosseum was originally known as the Flavian Ampitheater, after emperors who built it in the first century after Christ. Colosseum refers to the ‘colossal’ statue of Nero that at one time stood at the entrance. Also visit the Roman Forum. The Forum was the political and economical centre of Rome during the Republic. It emerged as such in the 7th century BCE and maintained this position well into the Imperial period, when it was reduced to a monumental area. Afternoon is at your leisure. (B, D): ROME
