Day 1 April 17/09

Overnight flight to Paris

Day 2 April 18/09 La Chapelle En Serval

Upon arrival into Paris, our coach and tour manager will meet us. We leave the city behind and travel a short distance to the Loire Valley, the most beautiful chateaux holiday destination in the world. The Region of the Loire Valley (Vallée de la Loire) is known as the Garden of France. It is quite simply one of the most beautiful areas of France and a must see tourist attraction for any French vacation. We spend the next two nights at the Chateau Hotel Mont Royal. This splendid 18th century style château, nestled in the heart of the Chantilly forest has 100 airconditioned rooms and suites, a sumptuous dining room and summer terrace and its meeting rooms will contribute to make your stay unforgettable… All rooms have been recently renovated, feature high ceilings, personalized décor and have amazing views of the surrounding forest. Delightful welcome dinner this evening in the Stradivarius Dining Room. (Dinner)

Day 3 April 19/09 La Chapelle En Serval

Today we are exploring the Champagne region of France with our tour director and private coach. This region is less than 100 miles east of Paris and is made up of the Aube, Marne, Haute-Marne, and Ardennes departments. Vines have been planted in La Champagne - the region, since the first century AD. For hundreds of years the kings of France were crowned in Reims cathedral, and the wines of the region were always popular at Court. However, it was not until the 17th Century that le champagne, the sparkling wine was first created. For this bounty, legend tells us, we should be eternally grateful to two Benedictine monks; Dom Pierre Pérignon, who is often incorrectly credited with inventing the process, and Dom Thierry Ruinart, who helped found the first champagne house. Today we visit Reims, unquestionably the commercial capital of the region. Enjoy your guided visit of the renowned Notre-Dame Cathedral with its circular stained glass window, called a rose window, and the 1974 set of stained glass windows by Marc Chagall. Then we will drive through the colorful vineyards of the most noble of wines and its typical villages. Epernay sits at the centre, and is the capital of le champagne. Here we visit the cellars of one of the most famous vineyards: Moët & Chandon (famous for its Dom Pérignon champagne). It is now part of the massive LVMH group and is by far the largest house in Champagne, producing a staggering 24 million bottles a year and with nearly 30 kilometers of cellars to mature its stocks. Of course, tasting is included in our visit. We return in the late afternoon to our Chateau for a relaxing evening on your own. (Buffet Breakfast Cold)

Day 4 April 20/09 Paris

Following breakfast, we say farewell to our delightful chateau and travel to the town of Giverny., sitting on the “Right Bank” of the River Seine. Claude Monet noticed the village of Giverny while looking out the window of a train he was riding. He made up his mind to move there and rented a house and the area surrounding it. In 1890, he had enough money to buy the house and land outright, and set out to create the magnificent gardens he wanted to paint. Some of his most famous paintings, such as his water lily and Japanese bridge paintings were of garden in Giverny. Monet lived in Giverny from 1883 until his death in 1926. He and many members of his family are interred in the village cemetery. Included today is admission to Monet’s Garden and home. Following our visit, free time for lunch and then we continue on to Paris. We spend the next four nights at the Hotel Radisson SAS Boulogne Paris, a very good four-star boutique hotel with a quiet atmosphere offering close proximity to the historic city centre. This hotel is across the road from public transit that takes you out to the site for Intermat 2009. We say farewell to our tour director and our private coach and have free time for the remainder of the day to explore the city, relax or travel out to Intermat. (Buffet Breakfast Cold)

Day 5 April 21/09 Paris

We now have allowed free time for visit to Intermat 2009. This is an international exhibition of equipment and techniques for Civil Engineering and Construction. Access to public transit directly across from the hotel for train service to the Paris-Nord Villepinte, site for Intermat - Building the Future. Dates for the show are April 20 - 25. Intermat is opening its doors to new business sectors in 2009 - Mines & Quarries, Drilling and Boring, Equipment, Components and Accessories and Handling and Logistics. Of course, after the work is done, not only is Paris the city of light, but of sound, music, dance, and revelry. In fact, most any big-city diversion you could conceive of is available in France’s capital. Relaxed bar-cafes, high-tech dance clubs, and mellow jazz haunts fit your mood like a well-worn glove, promising good times in any format. Cabaret venues deliver a dose of vibrant entertainment, and pubs prove to be more than just the domain of the British Isles. (Buffet Breakfast Hot)
